How to report a trouble

First, how not to report a trouble. The following was taken from an actual exchange on a busy email list; exchanges like it recurr endlessly throughout the internet.

Q:
> I am trying to install ... and I always get the error message

> means or how I can resolve the problem.

You need to paste the actual error message for us to  
resolve this question.

To report a trouble, send email to mailto:helpdesk@gc.cuny.edu with

the command you were running
the job id (if applicable)
error messages encountered

You can cut and paste this data into your email message.
